Editorial standards
Practical Picks recommends fewer products, with the reason written down.
Experience labels
- Personally tested means the editor used the product and wrote what happened.
- Personally owned means it is in regular use, not that it was compared in a lab.
- Used in the editor's work means it showed up on real jobs, which is not a controlled test.
- Researched, not tested means the write-up comes from manuals, known product traits, and public documentation. It is not a hands-on review.
- Not yet tested means the record exists so it can be finished later.
The site does not invent star ratings, prices, test scores, before-and-after photos, or personal stories. Technical claims that still need a source stay marked for the editor. AI-assisted drafts stay in review until a person checks them and marks the guide reviewed.
Affiliate money never decides whether a guide exists. A useful article can ship with no product link. Sponsored work, if it ever happens, will be labeled as sponsored.
Corrections are part of the job. If a model number or a step is wrong, the guide should change and the updated date should move.
